This billet direct drum is a necessity when building a high performance unit with increased pressures. The increased pressures will bend the original pressure plate causing premature 3rd gear clutch failure. The original drum and piston design allows only a portion of the clutches to be used. The ATF billet drum has an increased piston diameter that uses the complete clutch surface area that prevents the pressure plate from bending. This transmission is used in Dodge Stealth's, Mitsubishi 3000 GTs and Eclipse Turbos.
